Instrument (Integrated Control and Safety Systems) Engineer

About the role

The Integrated Control & Safety System (ICSS) Commissioning Engineer will support the SDC Commissioning Lead in delivering safe and efficient commissioning for both greenfield and brownfield projects. The role involves close collaboration with design, construction, and operations teams to ensure readiness, oversight of contractors, and successful handover of control systems.

Key responsibilities

• Provide HSSE leadership and ensure safety expectations are met on‑site.
• Review and comment on contractor documents from an commissioning perspective.
• Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and support the development of commissioning test procedures.
• Prepare and manage SPILs, LOSH/LOSSH documentation, and ITRs for ICSS equipment.
• Respond to engineering queries, coordinate with design contractors, and oversee Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
• Validate SIS requirements, manage IEC 61511 functional safety assessments, and prepare SIF packs for audit.
• Control ICSS software changes according to project procedures.
• Ensure all commissioning personnel are trained, compliant with PTW procedures, and supervise vendor representatives on‑site.
• Coach and train Azerbaijani national personnel.

Required profile

• Higher education in engineering with extensive controls system commissioning experience.
• Proven ability to work with design, construction, commissioning contractors and operations teams.
• Strong HSSE awareness and experience with on‑site activities.
• Familiarity with BP Construction & Commissioning Defined Practices or equivalent standards.
• Experience on both greenfield and brownfield projects and with diverse workforces.
