Electrical Engineer – Commissioning (Nationals Only)

About the role

The SDC Electrical Commissioning Engineer will work closely with the Commissioning Electrical Lead to ensure safe and efficient delivery of both Greenfield and Brownfield commissioning activities. This role involves overseeing contractors, managing pre‑commissioning and commissioning phases, and coordinating with operations teams to hand over fully functional electrical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Commissioning Electrical Lead in developing scope of work, schedules and commissioning plans.
• Review and comment on engineering contractor documents from a commissioning perspective.
• Attend and evaluate Electrical Equipment Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
• Specify required electrical tools, test equipment, spares and first‑fill items; generate purchase orders.
• Identify and provide temporary electrical system requirements for commissioning.
• Assist in creating LOSH/LOSSH documentation and develop commissioning test procedures (CTP) for both Greenfield and Brownfield assets.
• Compile and manage Installation Test Reports (ITRs) and oversee contractor execution of mechanical completion (MC) activities.
• Ensure all commissioning personnel follow site PTW procedures and HSE standards.
• Facilitate smooth hand‑over of electrical systems to Operations, responding to design queries as needed.

Required profile

• Higher education in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Extensive experience in electrical equipment commissioning, including HV/LV switching.
• Proven ability to interface with design, construction, and operations teams.
• Strong HSSE awareness and experience with on‑site safety practices.
• Familiarity with BP Construction & Commissioning Defined Practices or equivalent international standards.
• Experience working with diverse workforces and in both Greenfield and Brownfield projects.
