National Consultant – Women’s Economic Empowerment (Azerbaijan)

About the role

UN Women is seeking a national consultant to support the implementation of the Women’s Economic Empowerment in the South Caucasus (Phase III) project in Azerbaijan. The consultant will work closely with the Programme Specialist to provide technical assistance to private‑sector companies, helping them adopt gender‑responsive policies and integrate women‑owned enterprises into their supply chains.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical support to medium‑ and large‑sized companies operating in rural supply chains to raise awareness of the UN Women/UN Global Compact Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs).
• Assist in the design and implementation of gender‑responsive corporate policies that promote decent work for women.
• Facilitate capacity‑building workshops, trainings and knowledge‑sharing sessions for private‑sector stakeholders.
• Collect and analyse data on women’s participation in formal employment, wage gaps and access to financial services to inform project interventions.
• Prepare reports, case studies and recommendations for the Programme Specialist and project partners.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in economics, gender studies, development studies or a related field.
• Proven experience working on gender equality or women’s economic empowerment initiatives, preferably in the South Caucasus.
• Strong understanding of the Women’s Empowerment Principles and gender‑responsive corporate practices.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills in English; knowledge of Azerbaijani is an advantage.
