Electrical & Instrumentation Estimator

About the role

The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Estimator prepares accurate, competitive, and technically compliant cost estimates for electrical, instrumentation, control, telecommunications, and automation projects in oil & gas facilities. The role supports the Tendering & Estimating Manager to deliver commercially viable tender submissions that meet client specifications and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review ITTs, specifications, contract documents, BOQs and client requirements.
• Conduct site surveys to verify existing electrical and instrumentation installations, including switchgear, MCCs, transformers, substations, cable routing, hazardous area classifications, earthing, lightning protection, and control systems.
• Prepare detailed quantity take‑offs from engineering drawings such as single line diagrams, load lists, instrument loops, cable schedules, and layout drawings.
• Develop labor, equipment, material, and cost estimates; prepare pricing schedules, commercial assumptions, and bid schedules.
• Identify commercial and technical risks, propose mitigation measures, and develop value‑engineering proposals.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and commercial teams, as well as vendors and subcontractors, during bid preparation.
• Maintain estimating databases, productivity norms, unit costs, and historical cost records.
• Support tender clarification meetings, post‑tender negotiations, and bid review sessions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in estimating electrical and instrumentation works for oil & gas or similar industrial projects.
• Ability to interpret tender documents, specifications, and engineering drawings.
• Strong analytical skills to assess project scope, risks, and commercial implications.
• Effective communication and coordination with multidisciplinary teams and external suppliers.
