About the role
The International Urban Planning Expert will provide strategic and technical support for sustainable post‑conflict recovery and urbanisation in Azerbaijan, helping to localise the SDGs and the New Urban Agenda.
Key responsibilities
- Support the preparation of master plans and detailed designs for settlements in the Garabagh and East Zangezur regions.
- Conduct data collection, diagnostic assessments and sectoral planning to inform urban reconstruction.
- Facilitate knowledge generation, exchange and capacity‑building among local urban actors.
- Collaborate with UN‑Habitat’s Urban Lab team, the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture and other national stakeholders.
Required profile
- Solid background in urban planning with expertise in at least one of: urban resilience, climate adaptation, mobility, GIS, land/property management, or socio‑economic analysis.
- Experience in post‑conflict recovery or reconstruction contexts is preferred.
- Ability to work both remotely and on‑site in Azerbaijan for key project milestones.
