AI Chapter Lead - Payments Business

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on AI Chapter Lead to drive AI use‑case delivery within our Payments business. You will lead a team of data scientists, ensure high‑quality project execution, and foster technical growth while rolling up your sleeves to solve complex problems.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end delivery of AI use cases, managing sprint planning, task allocation and daily stand‑ups.
• Remove technical blockers, coordinate with IT and Data Engineering, and proactively escalate issues.
• Provide hands‑on guidance on model development, feature engineering, and deployment.
• Establish coding standards, version control, and MLOps workflows; lead design and architecture discussions.
• Mentor and coach data scientists, conduct skill assessments and create development plans.
• Organise knowledge‑sharing sessions, tech talks and support hiring processes.
• Monitor deployed models, coordinate retraining cycles and ensure performance standards.
• Serve as primary contact for business stakeholders, translate requirements into technical specifications and coordinate infrastructure needs.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related quantitative field.
• 4+ years of experience in data science/ML engineering, including at least 1 year in a lead or senior technical role.
• Experience in banking or financial services is strongly preferred.
• Proven track record of delivering machine‑learning projects to production.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Solid knowledge of ML algorithms: regression, classification, clustering, ensemble methods and deep‑learning fundamentals.
• Hands‑on experience with ML platforms (Dataiku preferred).
• Understanding of MLOps practices: CI/CD for ML, model versioning, monitoring and containerisation.
