Senior Consultant, Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS)

About the role

EY is hiring a Senior Consultant in its Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) team in Baku. FAAS provides advisory services including accounting and regulatory support for accounting changes and special matters, and helps clients address the risks of accounting, financial reporting and regulatory issues. The Senior Consultant manages a portfolio of clients and is responsible for the timeliness and quality of the work according to EY Global Standards, with technical knowledge of IFRS and strong communication skills.

Key responsibilities

• Work with colleagues under the supervision of FAAS managers and senior managers, checking that work plans are properly executed, documented and concluded in line with firm methodologies, professional standards and local regulations.
• Advise clients on preparing financial statements and improving financial reporting procedures.
• Design and develop accounting policies and methodologies compliant with IFRS and statutory accounting standards.
• Help clients implement financial reporting procedures, improve efficiency and support the financial statement closing process.
• Supervise junior engagement team members, coach and counsel them and foster a positive learning culture.
• Study technical issues, develop reference materials for clients and staff, and take part in business development and marketing for the FAAS practice.

Required profile

• Higher education in Finance, Audit, Economics or Accounting.
• At least 2-3 years of experience as an accountant or internal auditor (preferably in different industries) or as an auditor/consultant (preferably in a Big Four firm).
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Azerbaijani.
• ACCA students with at least F2, F3, F7 and F8 papers; completion of all fundamental level papers is an advantage.
• Ideal but not required: project management skills, experience preparing and auditing financial statements and consolidation, and significant exposure to finance functions at financial corporate institutions.
