Junior Offshore Electrical Engineer

About the role

Wood is seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer to join its Construction and Maintenance team, supporting safe and efficient offshore electrical works. The role involves maintaining equipment, ensuring compliance with HSE policies, and assisting senior engineers on site.

Key responsibilities

• Perform maintenance operations on offshore electrical equipment in line with company procedures and industry standards.
• Assist specialists under Specific Maintenance Contracts and ensure work permits and HSE regulations are followed.
• Take charge of equipment breakdowns, diagnose issues, and restore correct operation.
• Identify recurring maintenance problems, analyse trends and suggest improvements.
• Participate in the preparation of annual equipment and tool requests.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of maintenance experience on oil & gas production installations, preferably offshore.
• Good understanding of O&G processes, electrical theory (resistance, inductance, AC/DC, power) and ability to differentiate low and high voltages.
• Ability to read single‑line and schematic diagrams, vendor documents and name‑plates.
• Physical capability to work offshore in harsh climatic conditions.

Required skills

• Electrical maintenance, cable laying, pulling and connecting using glands, terminals and busbars.
• Use of multimeters, clamp meters, megger, earth‑leakage kits and recorders.
• Preventive maintenance on batteries, motors, breakers, transformers, contactors and switchboards.
• Testing and verification of alarms, trip and interlock settings, insulation and continuity tests.
