Auto Body Technician

About the role

The Auto Body Technician restores vehicles to their pre‑accident condition by carefully disassembling, repairing, and reassembling each car. Working in a busy collision‑repair shop, you will deliver fast, high‑quality service while representing Gerber Collision & Glass as a brand ambassador.

Key responsibilities

• Assess vehicle damage, create cost estimates and plan repair work.
• Use cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers and pliers to remove and replace damaged sections.
• Repair dents with filler resins, realign chassis, and perform structural repairs.
• Replace or repair glass, windshields, and interior components as needed.
• Weld, fit, and repaint parts using factory‑specified paint.
• Inspect completed repairs to ensure quality and meet labor‑time guidelines.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Technical school completion or a 3‑year apprenticeship in auto body repair.
• Ability to read job orders and work with minimal supervision.
• Physical ability to lift up to 30 lb, bend, kneel and work in noisy, odorous environments.

Required skills

• Operation of cutting guns and plasma cutters.
• Use of hydraulic jacks, hammers, pliers and filler resins.
• Welding and structural chassis alignment.
• Vehicle painting with factory‑specified colors.
• Glass and windshield replacement.
