Senior Chemist – Petroleum & Oil Analysis

About the role

Intertek is seeking a Senior Chemist to lead chemical analysis of crude oil, petroleum products, fuels and lubricants. The role involves supervising laboratory work, ensuring compliance with international standards and delivering accurate, timely results to support customers' supply chains.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and supervise chemical analyses of crude oil, petroleum products, fuels, lubricants and related samples following ASTM, IP, GOST and internal methods.
• Review analytical results for accuracy, consistency and compliance with specifications and acceptance criteria.
• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instruments; support method implementation, verification and validation.
• Prepare and review test reports, worksheets, analytical records and ensure proper documentation.
• Conduct quality control checks using QC and Statistical Quality Control techniques; monitor control charts and take corrective actions.
• Participate in investigations of non‑conforming work, analytical discrepancies and customer complaints.
• Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory quality management system requirements.
• Provide technical guidance to chemists and laboratory technicians and assist with training and competency assessments.

Required profile

• University degree in Chemistry (or related field).
• Minimum 3 years of relevant laboratory experience in the petroleum, oil & gas or petroleum products industry.
• Familiarity with ASTM, IP, GOST standards and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
• Experience using LIMS for sample registration, test assignment, result entry and reporting.
