Applications Engineer – Drilling Services

About the role

The Applications Engineer – Drilling Services is the technical authority responsible for planning, designing, executing and continuously improving drilling and well‑construction solutions. Working closely with service delivery, sales, product engineering and customers, the role ensures flawless service delivery while upholding the highest safety, quality and compliance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the full job cycle – from well‑plan and BHA design to execution, evaluation and continuous improvement.
• Develop fit‑for‑purpose well plans, drilling programs, risk mitigation and contingency strategies aligned with customer objectives.
• Perform engineering analyses such as torque‑and‑drag, hydraulics, ECD, vibration studies and offset‑well reviews.
• Provide real‑time technical support during operations, including troubleshooting and performance monitoring.
• Identify and mitigate technical and operational risks, manage incident investigations, root‑cause analyses and Management of Change (MOC) processes.
• Lead technical reviews, approve engineering designs and support peer reviews for complex projects.
• Capture lessons learned by comparing planned versus executed results and drive continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Support technology deployment, digitalisation, standardisation and operational‑excellence programs.

Required profile

• Senior engineering professional with extensive experience in drilling and well‑construction engineering.
• Proven ability to lead technical reviews, mentor personnel and drive process improvements.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on safety, quality and compliance.
• Excellent collaboration skills to work with service delivery coordinators, sales teams, product lines and customers.
