Senior Project Associate – Climate Action

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Senior Project Associate to support the Adaptation Fund project “Building Climate Resilient Cities and Communities in the Republic of Azerbaijan.” The role will be based in Baku and will coordinate climate‑action activities across several regions.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and support implementation of IOM activities under the project, including components in Baku, Neftchala, and Astara.
• Maintain compliance with IOM procedures and donor requirements.
• Oversee operational, logistical and administrative aspects of project activities, including follow‑up with suppliers, contractors and implementing partners.
• Assist in scaling up climate‑change adaptation solutions and monitoring progress.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental/Climate Change studies, Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights or related field, with at least five years of relevant experience; or high school diploma with seven years of experience.
• Proven experience coordinating or supporting development, climate adaptation, environmental sustainability or resilience‑building projects.
• Experience managing operational, logistical or administrative tasks for project implementation.
• Ability to work under the supervision of the Head of Office and National Programme Officer.
