Senior Piping Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Piping Design Engineer to join our Piping Engineering team in Baku. The role involves leading the design and layout of piping systems for oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical and downstream projects, ensuring compliance with international codes and client specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review piping layouts, routing, and equipment arrangements for process and utility systems.
• Create and maintain 3D piping models aligned with P&IDs, line lists, and project specifications.
• Coordinate interfaces with process, mechanical, civil/structural, instrumentation and other disciplines.
• Prepare piping isometrics, GA drawings and other deliverables, and conduct clash detection reviews.
• Design practical solutions for pumps, vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, pipe racks and related equipment.
• Support tie‑ins, modifications and revamp works on existing facilities.
• Ensure designs meet project specifications, material specifications and applicable codes.
• Provide technical guidance to junior and mid‑level designers and resolve design issues.

Required profile

• University degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred).
• Significant senior‑level experience in piping design for oil & gas, refinery or petrochemical projects.
• Ability to independently manage design activities and deliverables.
• Strong understanding of international piping codes and standards.

Required skills

• AutoCAD (very strong knowledge).
• AVEVA E3D (good working knowledge).
• Smart 3D / SmartPlant 3D (advantage).
• Navisworks or similar clash‑detection tools (advantage).
• ASME B31.3, ASME B36.10, ASME B36.19, ASME B16 series.
• API piping standards.
• GOST, EN/DIN and NFPA standards (advantage).
• Experience with client‑specific Piping Material Specifications (PMS) and piping class definitions.
