Senior Petrophysicist SME – Reservoir Development

About the role

The Petrophysicist SME is a senior specialist within the Reservoir Development team, responsible for hands‑on petrophysical interpretation across multiple fields. Reporting to the VP Reservoir Development, the role works closely with Reservoir Engineering, Production Engineering and logging contractors to support workover programs and evaluate bypassed pay.

Key responsibilities

• Own petrophysical interpretation, including perforation picks, behind‑pipe pay screening and saturation evaluation for bypassed pay.
• Re‑interpret legacy Soviet‑era log suites (BKZ and lateral logs) against modern logs and core data, documenting uncertainty.
• Design and oversee logging and data acquisition programs (cased‑hole, production, open‑hole) for existing and new wells.
• Manage logging vendors, define scope, support tendering and ensure QA/QC of data acquisition and processing.
• Assess and implement new surveillance technologies such as production logging and distributed sensing.
• Develop interpretation standards (shaly‑sand, thin‑bed, low‑resistivity pay) and share knowledge with the local team.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of petrophysics experience, with deep expertise in cased‑hole and production petrophysics.
• Hands‑on experience in quantitative open‑hole evaluation of clastic reservoirs.
• Proven track record of managing logging vendors and acquisition programs.
• Experience with legacy or FSU log data; knowledge of Productive Series is ideal.
• Azerbaijani or Russian language skills are advantageous.
