QC Inspector – Welding & Coating (Nationals Only)

About the role

The QC Inspector – Welding & Coating will join the SDC Subsea Quality Team to ensure safe, efficient and high‑quality execution of offshore construction projects. The role involves providing welding and coating inspection support, monitoring quality on pipe‑lay barges, and driving continuous improvement in line with client and industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Implement safe and efficient execution of project scopes while promoting HSE, cost, schedule and technical integrity.
• Provide welding and NDT support during fabrication of installation aids and oversee storage and preservation of line pipes.
• Support QC activities for Field Joint Coating (FJC) pre‑production tests, Welder Qualification Tests and commissioning of welding/FJC equipment onboard the pipe‑lay barge.
• Monitor quality control aspects of welding and coating activities onboard, produce daily status reports and ensure proper documentation handover.
• Review contractor Inspection & Test Plans, identify quality risks, coordinate Independent Verification Body inspections and manage non‑conformances, deviations and concession requests.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years offshore construction experience, preferably on pipe‑lay barge operations with mechanised welding and 3LPE, LE and HSS FJC systems.
• CSWIP 3.2.1 Senior Welding Inspector certification and at least one coating inspection qualification (e.g., CSWIP/BGAS Coating Inspector grade 2, NACE Coating Inspector level 2, UK ICorr Coating Inspector Level 2A).
• Proven decision‑making, leadership and communication abilities, with the capacity to intervene in critical situations.
