Marine Advisor

About the role

The Marine Advisor will act as the primary consultant for marine operations on offshore projects, rig moves and other specialist activities. The role ensures safe, compliant and efficient vessel management while supporting project teams across logistics, drilling, HSE and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide consultancy and technical support during offshore projects, rig moves and specialist marine activities.
• Ensure marine operations comply with company rules, marine standards, legislation and approved procedures.
• Plan, select and vet vessels operating on behalf of the client and review vessel manning levels, crew qualifications and competencies.
• Review marine risk assessments, procedures for mooring and anchor deployment, and provide technical input to tenders and contracts.
• Manage and monitor marine contractor and vessel‑owner performance, including chartering and optimal fleet utilization.
• Maintain marine emergency preparedness, oil‑spill response arrangements and support HSEQ reporting, audits and incident investigations.
• Participate in vessel inspections, marine audits and contractor assurance activities.
• Promote a strong safety mindset among contractors and subcontractors and maintain effective communication with operations, HSE, projects and external authorities.

Required profile

• Master Mariner background or equivalent marine professional qualification with relevant offshore experience.
• Knowledge of applicable marine law, maritime regulations and industry standards.

Required skills

• Management and supervision of vessel operations.
• Experience with Dynamic Positioning systems.
• Conducting vessel inspections and audits.
