ICSS Engineer – Commissioning Lead

About the role

The Integrated Control & Safety System (ICSS) Engineer will act as Commissioning Lead for the Shah Deniz Compression (SDC) project in Azerbaijan. Based in Baku and offshore, you will support safe and efficient greenfield and brownfield commissioning, working closely with design, construction, and operations teams.

Key responsibilities

• Provide HSSE leadership and ensure safety standards are met on‑site.
• Review and comment on contractor documents from a commissioning perspective.
• Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and contribute to commissioning test procedures.
• Prepare SPILs, LOSH/LOSSH, and ITR documentation for ICSS equipment.
• Respond to engineering queries and coordinate with design contractors.
• Witness and accept Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) and validate SIS requirements.
• Manage Safety Instrumented Function (SIF) testing and prepare SIF packs for functional safety audits.

Required profile

• Higher education with extensive experience in controls system equipment commissioning.
• Proven ability to interface with design, construction, commissioning contractors, and operations.
• Strong understanding of BP Construction & Commissioning Defined Practices and international standards.
• Experience working with diverse workforces and handling HSSE issues on site.

• IEC 61511 compliance and SIS functional safety assessments.
• Safety Instrumented System (SIS) validation.
• Safety Instrumented Function (SIF) testing.
• Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) participation.
• Site Acceptance Test (SAT) witnessing.
• Control Systems LOSH/LOSSH preparation.
• SPIL creation and management.
• ITR development and compilation.
