HVAC Commissioning Engineer – Shah Deniz Project

About the role

The HVAC Commissioning Engineer will support the Shah Deniz Compression (SDC) project in Azerbaijan, working from the engineering contractor office and fabrication facility in Baku and offshore during Greenfield and Brownfield hook‑up and commissioning phases. The role ensures safe, efficient delivery and hand‑over of HVAC systems, overseeing fabrication, construction, testing and commissioning activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide commissioning oversight of HVAC fabrication and construction contractors, including installation, preservation, inspection, testing and completion.
• Review and comment on engineering contractor documents, adding a commissioning perspective to design.
• Attend HVAC equipment Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and support specification of purchase orders for tools, test equipment and spares.
• Develop, execute and document Commissioning Test Procedures (CTP) and Installation Test Reports (ITR) for HVAC systems.
• Identify temporary system requirements and ensure all safety, process and Permit‑to‑Work practices are followed.
• Coach and train Azerbaijani national personnel on commissioning activities and safe work practices.

Required profile

• High‑level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead field execution.
• Extensive experience in HVAC equipment commissioning, including Greenfield and Brownfield projects.
• Working knowledge of applicable HVAC codes, standards, project specifications and Permit‑to‑Work requirements.
• Proven experience interfacing with design, construction and commissioning contractors and operations teams.
• Understanding of HSSE issues related to on‑site activities.
