Head of Data Direction

About the role

The Head of Data Direction will lead TəsvirBank’s data strategy and roadmap from Q4 2026 to the end of 2028. The role oversees Data Engineering, BI, Analytics and Data Governance teams, ensuring the delivery of measurable quarterly plans.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the data strategy, translating it into quarterly execution plans with measurable outcomes.
• Lead and grow multidisciplinary teams across Data Engineering, BI, Analytics and Data Governance, including recruitment and professional development.
• Balance strategic data platform development with daily business demands such as ad‑hoc queries and regulatory reporting.
• Act as the bank’s data expert and strategic partner for Finance, Risk, Compliance, IT and other business units.
• Design and build operational data stores (ODS), data marts and robust data pipelines for each business domain.
• Establish technical and operational standards for Data Engineering and create an AI‑ready data layer for LLM and MCP‑based solutions.
• Drive BI platform evolution, including migration of legacy reports and expansion of self‑service analytics.
• Implement Data Governance framework, define Data Owner and Data Steward roles, and manage data catalog, lineage and quality KPIs.
• Lead Master Data Management processes for strategic data domains.
• Ensure compliance with the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, personal data protection laws and internal information security policies.
• Promote data literacy and a data‑driven culture across the organization.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of experience in data engineering or analytics, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Hands‑on experience designing, building and operating corporate data platforms in regulated environments.
• Deep knowledge of databases, SQL, ETL processes, data modeling and data processing pipelines.
• Experience with cloud‑based analytics platforms and hybrid data architectures.
• Proven track record managing large‑scale business analytics and reporting solutions.
• Strong background in data governance, data cataloging, data lineage and Master Data Management.
• Familiarity with banking data domains (accounts, loans, deposits, payments, cards) and regulatory reporting.
• Ability to collaborate with agile product, technology and business teams and communicate effectively with senior leadership.
• Fluent in Russian (spoken and written) and business‑level English.
