Automation and Instrumentation Manager

About the role

The Automation and Instrumentation Manager will lead the maintenance, calibration, and integration of electronic, instrument and metrological equipment across production facilities. The role combines technical oversight with team leadership to ensure reliable operation of automation systems and compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance, repair and calibration of electronic, instrument and metrological components.
• Oversee installation, commissioning and adjustment of DeltaV automation systems and related hardware.
• Plan and execute annual, monthly and daily operational activities for automation, instrumentation and metrology.
• Develop and manage technical service plans, including health, safety and compliance schedules.
• Forecast material and equipment needs, and coordinate project execution for related disciplines.
• Lead recruitment, training, performance evaluation and motivation of the technical team.
• Ensure proper installation of signal wiring and infrastructure supporting custody transfer and allocation (C&A) operations.
• Participate in brownfield and greenfield projects, including FEED, FAT, SAT, commissioning and HAZOP support.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics or related field.
• 7‑10+ years of experience in industrial automation, control systems or instrumentation within oil & gas or heavy industry.
• Proven experience leading technical teams and managing complex operational workflows.
• Strong knowledge of relevant standards, regulations and industrial safety practices.

Required skills

• DeltaV DCS, SIS, ESD, F&G, OPC, Modbus TCP/RTU, HART, Ethernet/IP.
• Industrial networking, managed switches, virtualization, server architecture, IEC 62443 cybersecurity.
• Custody transfer metering: ultrasonic & Coriolis flowmeters, prover systems, flow computers (e.g., Emerson ROC), API/ISO metrology standards.
• Online process analyzers: gas chromatographs, moisture, H₂S, oxygen analyzers and sampling systems.
• Smart field instrumentation: pressure, temperature, level, flow, vibration sensors, control valves, valve positioners, ESDV, HIPPS, SIL‑rated devices.
• PLC, HMI, SCADA, ISA‑type certifications.
