Power and Automation Engineer

About the role

Saipem is seeking a Power and Automation Engineer to provide specialised technical support for offshore vessels and equipment. The role focuses on power, electrical, automation and dynamic positioning (DP) systems, ensuring projects are delivered safely, reliably and cost‑effectively.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical support for power, electrical, automation and DP systems throughout vessel development, upgrades and lifecycle management.
• Ensure project execution complies with Saipem, client, classification society and international standards.
• Assist Operations, Commercial, Supply Chain and Asset teams in defining vessel and equipment requirements.
• Prepare feasibility studies, technical proposals, conceptual designs, engineering packages and scopes of work for upgrades, modifications and new installations.
• Review and approve engineering deliverables such as electrical drawings, single‑line diagrams, layouts, cable schedules, load calculations and control philosophies.
• Lead technical evaluation of vendor offers, support bid clarification meetings and coordinate supplier selection with Procurement.
• Draft and review procurement documents, material requisitions, purchase requisitions and bills of materials, providing technical guidance throughout the purchasing process.
• Monitor purchase orders, vendor documentation, manufacturing progress, inspections and delivery schedules to meet project requirements.
• Coordinate engineering interfaces among internal disciplines, vendors, clients, shipyards and classification societies across all project phases.
• Provide technical follow‑up during detailed engineering, manufacturing, site acceptance tests, commissioning, sea trials and final project close‑out.

Required profile

• Proven experience with power, electrical, automation and DP systems on offshore vessels.
• Strong knowledge of classification society rules and international engineering standards.
• Ability to develop feasibility studies, technical proposals and detailed engineering packages.
• Experience reviewing and approving complex electrical documentation.
• Competence in vendor evaluation, procurement support and technical follow‑up of manufacturing activities.
• Excellent coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams, shipyards and external stakeholders.
