Senior Site SCADA Engineer

About the role

INTEC Energy Solutions is seeking a Senior Site SCADA Engineer to lead the installation, configuration and commissioning of SCADA systems for a utility‑scale solar PV project in Azerbaijan. The role involves close collaboration with electrical, protection, grid connection and commissioning teams in a fast‑paced EPC environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise installation, configuration and commissioning of SCADA hardware and software on site.
• Coordinate SCADA activities with Electrical, Protection & Control, Commissioning and Grid Connection teams.
• Configure and test communication links between inverters, BESS, BMS, Power Plant Controllers, RTUs, PLCs, revenue meters, meteorological stations and protection relays.
• Perform point‑to‑point testing, signal validation and communication verification.
• Support FAT, SAT, energisation, performance testing and remote‑monitoring hand‑over.
• Troubleshoot SCADA communication and control issues during construction and commissioning.
• Verify compliance with project specifications, grid operator requirements and communication protocols.
• Manage subcontractors, equipment suppliers and client representatives during commissioning.
• Prepare commissioning reports, test documentation, punch lists and as‑built records.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Automation Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of SCADA engineering experience on utility‑scale solar PV, BESS, sub‑stations or power generation projects.
• Proven site commissioning experience within an EPC environment.
• Fluent English and willingness to travel internationally on rotation‑based assignments.

Required skills

• Industrial communication protocols: IEC 61850, IEC 60870‑5‑101/104, Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA.
• Hands‑on experience with RTUs, PLCs, industrial networking, fiber‑optic systems, switches, VPNs and communication gateways.
• Integration of Power Plant Controllers (PPC), EMS, BMS and utility communication interfaces.
• Familiarity with major inverter and SCADA vendors such as Sungrow, Huawei, SMA, Siemens, Schneider Electric, ABB.
